IDENTITY [2016]
A four letter word, to describe how my cognition functions.
A relevant blurb, convinces me I've been understood.
Sensational tide, and something trips my intuition.
I'm feeling out, exactly what I think you think.
Who are you now, are you any of these things?
I know I am, but I'm none of them the same.
It's Identity I struggle to explain.
Am I my thoughts, my past, my actions, or my dreams?
The stars have aligned, and figures rise to tell our stories.
Planets transit, they travel sleep in different houses.
My time of birth, may tell you of my many aspects,
but I'm not convinced, the Philosophy of Lions exists.
Who are you now, are you any of these things?
I know I am, but I'm none of them the same.
It's Identity I struggle to explain.
Am I my thoughts, my past, my actions, or my dreams?
Can I be my dreams?
What are my dreams?
BREATHE IN, BREATHE OUT [2020]
Pealing back thin strips of bark from a fallen tree reminds me,
of decades old wallpaper clinging to the side of my kitchen.
Breathe in, breathe out. I will wear my mask.
Breathe in, breathe out. I will wear my mask, but....
Shaggy moss makes a home on the damp side of maples,
catches the debris in the air just like my bedroom carpet.
Breathe in, breathe out. I will wear my mask.
Breathe in, breathe out. I will wear my mask, but....
River rock worn smooth by the rushing clear water,
brings me back to the crashing glass of the porch sliding door.
Breathe in, breathe out. I will wear my mask.
Breathe in, breathe out. I will wear my mask, but....
Breathe in, breathe out. I will wear my mask.
Breathe in, breathe out. I will wear my mask, but....
FLYOVER STATE
Two-fingered wave as we pass in the street
We'll go to church any day of the week
We'll eat the body and the blood we'll drink,
but it's not exactly what you think, it's not exactly what you think
Ope!
Let me slide right past you, some may say
We could move a little faster, anyway.
If you stop you just might find,
you like the flyover state of mind, you like the flyover state of mind
I've seen some ghosts in these hills
I've fought some demons in these fields,
but most of the landscape is really sky,
and angels can be heard on high, angels can be heard on high
Ope!
Let me slide right past you, some may say
We could move a little faster, anyway.
If you stop you just might find,
you like the flyover state of mind, you like the flyover state of mind
Let me slide right past you, some may say
We could move a little faster, anyway.
If you stop you just might find,
you like the flyover state of mind, you like the flyover state of mind,
you like the sunflower state of mind
DANDELION [2024]
I've been trampled in the past and, my heart was impacted.
If I were made of soil, you might call me compacted.
And all those experiences, left me cryin'.
What I need to loosen up is the root from a dandelion.
Your roots tap deep in my soul, deep in my soil
Your roots tap deep in my soul, deep in my
The winter was so long and chilled me to the bone.
500 shades of brown left me feelin' all alone.
But now it's early spring and I'm alright.
I'm finally warming up to the golden flecks of light.
You pop pop up in my heart, pop up in my yard
You pop pop up in my heart, pop up in my
Don't spray poison oh no, all over my love, all over our love
GRANDMA FELL [2015]
Grandma fell and I can start to tell,
that things will never be the same as back when I was twelve.
I don't care how and I don't care when,
I just wish that I could hear Grandpa signing again.
Time is a trip through those valleys and hills.
I try to live for the way, instead of the thrills.
Time is a trip through those ruts and peaks.
I try to live for the truth I was meant to seek.
My brother's married and my cousin's engaged,
and if I'm honest with myself I'm nearing that age.
I don't know when and I don't know who,
I'm just praying to the Lord please give me a clue.
Time is a trip through those valleys and hills.
I try to live for the way, instead of the thrills.
Time is a trip through those ruts and peaks.
I try to live for the truth I was meant to seek.
I've failed in life but I also know,
that it's the only true way that I've got to grow.
It's not easy it's sure not fun,
but I will keep on failing 'til my life is done.
Time is a trip through those valleys and hills.
I try to live for the way, instead of the thrills.
Time is a trip through those ruts and peaks.
I try to live for the truth I was meant to seek.
Grandma fell and I can start to tell,
that things will never be the same as back when I was twelve.
I don't care how and I don't care when,
I just wish that I could hear Grandpa signing again.
I wish that I could hear Grandpa signing again.
I wish that I could hear Grandpa signing again.
I wish that I could hear Grandpa signing again.
PERFECT IS NOT PERFECT [2016]
Don't care about your flaws, 'cause perfection's a chore.
Look at me like that, it shakes me to the core.
If you want my touch, know I'm allergic to plastic.
I know the fad is thin, but your curves are classic.
Classic, classic.....huh!
Now that I've said it, I'm not so sure.
Uncertainty's a sickness, and I need the cure.
Everyone's got issues, but ours are matching.
So I'll nurture this feeling, like a sparrow hatching.
Hatching, hatching....huh!
All I want's to wake up, holding your hand.
I'd fight for your honor, like a Scottish clan.
All I ask in return, is when I get crazy,
you'd be amused with me, instead of angry.
Angry, angry....huh!
You are perfect, you are perfect, you are perfect, not perfect (x2)
CHARLOTTE (SOME PIG!)
Charlotte never wrote one kind word for me,
because I crushed her children out of negligence.
It was an accident you see all my best mistakes
started out that way.
So I'll keep weaving that web, ever wider
and if that web gets wrecked I'll just start over (x2)
OINK!
All my best friends want to end their lives.
I've got hope to share if I only knew how.
So it's not my fault except incidentally.
My biggest fear is that it's too late now.
So I'll keep weaving that web, ever wider
and if that web gets wrecked I'll just start over (x2)
OINK!
Have you seen a little spider?
Have you seen her crawling by?
Have you seen a little Charolette?
Now she's hanging from a rope
So I'll keep weaving that web, ever wider
and if that web gets wrecked I'll just start over (x2)
OINK!
